Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
When looking for inspiration or crippled with another case of Writers’ Block attempt the following:
1. Drink coffee, for the caffeine and because it makes you feel grown up.
2. Listen to the Beatles, preferably the song with the name of your character in it.
3. Sit outside, if it’s winter find a window.
4. Make fun of your cat, attempt to do this to its face but if not find the other cat.
5. Light a candle, for some reason this makes you feel older too but please don’t forget to blow it out again.
6. Stay away from your family, they are the biggest distraction you could find, seriously, they never shut up.
7. Go somewhere with your family, ignore number six and try a bar, when you guys are forced to talk some strange conversations can occur.
8. Watch T.V., try CSI if you’re still writing about death, they have some very interesting ideas.
9. DO NOT read a book, it never helps it only distracts and confuses you, poetry is okay.
10. Take a shower, the best thing for you is being forced to think.
11. Poop, this is a last resort if the shower doesn’t work and even if you don’t have to at least you are forced to sit still.
12. Sit on the kitchen counter, this only works if your parents are gone but it makes you feel cool.
13. Do not research “ways to beat writers’ block”, when you do you end up searching for a publisher with less than half a book done.
14. Make tea, see: Drink coffee.
15. Change out of your pajamas, this makes you feel like you actually have a job.
16. Talk to your imaginary friends, they are full of ideas.
17. Shut the Hell up and stop complaining, charge your damn computer, shut off the internet, and START WRITING!!! =]
